"We went to give our condolences that morning," RM recalled. "I couldn't sleep at all that night. It was so shocking, because we had sen him so often at events. He was so successful."

"It was a shock to everyone, and I really sympathized with him," Suga added.

Jonghyun died Dec. 18 after being discovered unconscious at his apartment in Seoul. The K-pop star, who was 27 at the time of his death, detailed his struggle with depression in a note given to a friend before his suicide.

"I really want to say that everyone in the world is lonely and everyone is sad," Suga told Billboard.

"If we know that everyone is suffering and lonely, I hope we can create an environment where we can ask for help, and say things are hard when they're hard, and say that we miss someone when we miss them," he said.

Jonghyun's agency, SM Entertainment, released the singer's second solo album, Poet | Artist, and a music video for the song "Shinin" posthumously in January. The album debuted on the Billboard 200 following its release.
