Feb. 8 (UPI) -- Johnny and June Carter Cash's son John Carter Cash is producing a 16-track collaborative album featuring unreleased poetry, lyrics and letters from his dad titled Johnny Cash: Forever Worlds.

The album, set to be released on April 6, will feature the late music icon's words set to music performed by an all-star cast that includes late Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell, Willie Nelson, Cash's daughter Rosanne Cash, John Mellencamp, Elvis Costello and more, Rolling Stone reported.

Other featured guests will include Kris Kristofferson, Carlene Carter, Brad Paisley, Kacey Musgraves, T Bone Burnett, Jamey Johnson, the Jayhawks, Jewel, I'm With Her, Dailey & Vincent, Robert Glasper, Ro James, Anu Sun and Ruston Kelly.

The songs were recorded primarily at the Cash Family Cabin in Hendersonville, Tenn., and work as a companion piece to Johnny's 2016 book, Forever Words: The Unknown Poems.

"Determining the artist for each song was truly a matter of the heart," Carter said in a statement. "I picked the artists who are most connected with my father, who had a personal story that was connected with dad. It became an exciting endeavor to go through these works, to put them together and present them to different people who could finish them in a way that I believed that dad would have wanted."
