Dec. 11 (UPI) -- Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme apologized on Facebook to a photographer he kicked in the face during a performance in Los Angeles.

Homme was filmed by an audience member kicking celebrity photographer Chelsea Lauren in the head when he got close to her onstage in the middle of performing a song.

"Thanks to Josh Homme @queensofthestoneage I now get to spend my night in the ER. Seriously, WHO DOES THAT?!?" Lauren said on Instagram alongside a video of the incident.

"I don't have any excuse or reason to justify what I did ... I'm truly sorry and I hope you're okay," Homme said in a video apology posted Sunday on the Queens of the Stone Age Facebook page.

"I've made a lot of mistakes in my life and last night was definitely one of them, and I apologize for that to you. I want to be a good man but I think last night I definitely failed at that," he continued before also apologizing to his bandmates, mother, father and children.

Homme originally released a statement across the band's social media accounts in which he characterized it as an accident.

"Last night, while in a state of being lost in performance, I kicked over various lighting and equipment on our stage," the statement said. "Today it was brought to my attention that this included a camera held by photographer Chelsea Lauren. I did not mean for that to happen and I am very sorry. I would never intentionally cause harm to anyone working at or attending one of our shows and I hope Chelsea will accept my sincere apology."

Lauren told Variety she plans to file a police report. "I feel like if I don't do anything, he gets to kick people in the face and not get in trouble because he's a musician," she said. "That's not right."
