Gaon monthly album charts confirmed The War has sold 1.086 million copies, according to The Korea Herald. The repackaged album The War: The Power of Music, which debuted in September, has sold an additional 506,485 copies.

EXO's previous three studio albums, XOXO, Exodus and Ex'Act, also reached platinum status. The combined sales figure of The War and The War: The Power of Music, however, surpasses the other records.

The achievement follows EXO's win for The War at the 2017 Mnet Asian Music Awards this month. The International Business Times reported the group took home Album of the Year for the fifth consecutive year.
