Red Velvet previously topped the chart this year with its EPs Rookie and Red Summer, which debuted in February and July, respectively. The group also reached No. 1 with its album The Red in 2015.

Billboard confirmed only three other K-pop acts, B.A.P., GOT7 and BTS, have topped its world albums chart four times. Red Velvet is the only female K-pop act to do so.

Perfect Velvet features nine songs, including the single "Peek-A-Boo." Red Velvet, which consists of singers Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, Joy and Yeri, released a horror-themed music video for the song this month.
