Nov. 18 (UPI) -- Kelly Clarkson and Pink are set to open Sunday's American Music Awards show in Los Angeles.

This will be the first time the superstars perform together.

The fan-voted AMAs presentation -- honoring excellence across all genres of music -- will air live on ABC from the Microsoft Theater.

Music icon Diana Ross is slated to take the stage for a rare performance at the ceremony where she will be honored with the American Music Award for Lifetime Achievement. Her daughter -- black-ish actress Tracee Ellis Ross -- is hosting the gala. Later in the evening, Christina Aguilera is scheduled to pay tribute to the late Whitney Houston and perform memorable music from her romantic thriller The Bodyguard, which turns 25 next week.

Also confirmed as performers are BTS, Alessia Cara & Zedd, Selena Gomez, Niall Horan, Imagine Dragons & Khalid, Nick Jonas, Lady Gaga, Demi Lovato, Shawn Mendes and Hailee Steinfeld & Alesso featuring Florida Georgia Line.

Bruno Mars goes into the competition with a leading eight nominations. He is followed by Chainsmokers, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Ed Sheeran and The Weeknd, who are tied with five nominations each, while Justin Bieber, Daddy Yankee and Luis Fonsi are each up for four awards.
