Aguilera will perform a musical tribute to Houston, who died at age 48 in February 2012. She said in an Instagram post that she's "excited" to honor Houston at the ceremony, which will take place Nov. 19.

"I am excited, honored and humbled to perform a tribute to one of my idols, Whitney Houston for the 25th Anniversary of 'The Bodyguard' at the @AMAs! 11/19 on ABC," the star wrote.

The Bodyguard, which opened in theaters in November 1992, co-starred Houston and actor Kevin Costner. The movie's soundtrack featured several songs from Houston, including a cover of "I Will Always Love You."

Aguilera released the album Lotus in 2012, and recorded the single "Change" in 2016 following the Orlando nightclub shooting. She served as a judge in several seasons of the NBC reality competition The Voice.
