Vegas performers to resume shows after day of mourning

Oct. 4 (UPI) -- Many of Las Vegas' top performers resumed their shows after a period of mourning for the victims of the mass shooting attack Sunday.

The Blue Man Group, comedian-magicians Penn & Teller, magician David Copperfield, singer Wayne Newton, comedian Eddie Griffin and the male stripper group Chippendales all returned to their stages Tuesday night.

"Obviously there was a time to grieve and show proper respect and all of that for those that were affected by this incredible tragedy," Newton told TMZ. "But if performers have been given any talemt at all by the man upstairs, it is to bring happiness to people who need to get away from their own worries and things that are going on in the world and come to a place and be entertained and find a moment of happiness."

Not all performers scheduled in Vegas returned to the stage Tuesday.

Singer and actress Jennifer Lopez was scheduled to perform three shows at Planet Hollywood Hotel & Casino this week, but those dates will now be rescheduled.

Country music star Jason Aldean, who was on stage at the route 91 music festival when the shooting started, said Tuesday that several upcoming shows will be canceled.

"As a result of what happened in Las Vegas this week, we have decided to cancel this coming weekend's shows," Aldean wrote on Twitter.
