Sept. 1 (UPI) -- South Korean boy band EXO appears in the 2018 Guinness book of world records. The K-pop group tied fellow act Big Bang for winning the most grand prizes at the Mnet Asian Music Awards, according to The Korea Herald.
EXO won Album of the Year at the 2016 awards show for its third studio album, Ex'Act. The band previously walked away with Artist of the Year in 2014, and also won awards for the albums XOXO, Overdose and Exodus.
Big Bang previously set the record with three awards for Artist of the Year -- in 2008, 2012 and 2015 -- and two for Song of the Year -- "Lie" in 2007 and "Bang Bang Bang" in 2015.
"Congratulations to the South Korean boy bands BIGBANG and EXO, featured in the new #GWR book," the Guinness World Records official Twitter account wrote.
The news comes ahead of the re-release of EXO's fourth studio album, The War, in September. The K-pop group released a series of "The Power of Music" teasers featuring members Kai, Sehun, Xiumin and Chen this week on Twitter.
