Linkin Park to hold special event in honor of Chester Bennington

Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Linkin Park has announced on Twitter to hold a special public event in honor of their late singer, Chester Bennington.

"Just wanted to say thank you to all our fans around the world for the tremendous outpouring of love, which has strengthened our spirit during this incredibly difficult time," the band wrote Tuesday.

"The five of us are so grateful for all of you support as we heal and build the future of Linkin Park," they continued.

"We are working on a special public event in Los Angeles to honor Chester's memory and look forward to sharing details with you soon."

Bennington was discovered dead in July inside his residence at Palos Verdes Estates in Los Angeles County. The Los Angeles County coroner's office confirmed that the 41-year-old hanged himself from a bedroom door.

Linkin Park had previously paid tribute to Bennington writing on social media, "You had the biggest heart, and managed to wear it on your sleeve. Our love for making and performing music is inextinguishable. While we don't know what path our future may take, we know that each of our lives was made better by you. Thank you for that gift. We love you, and miss you so much. Until we see you again."

Recently, rapper Jay-Z performed his collaboration with Linkin Park "Numb/Encore" to honor Bennington.
