Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Taylor Swift has shared a mysterious video featuring a reptilian tail days after her social media accounts went dark.

The clip, released by the pop star Monday across her social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr and Twitter, features glitchy footage of a reptilian tail recoiling with no explanation or description.

The video has once again led fans to believe that Swift is planning on releasing new music and announcing a new album.

The singer's last project, 1989, was released in October 2014. Since then she has appeared alongside Zayn on "I Don't Wanna Live Forever " from the soundtrack for Fifty Shades Darker.

Music video director Joseph Kahn who worked with Swift on her videos for "Bad Blood," "Blank Space" "Out of the Woods" and "Wildest Dreams," furthered speculation that something new is on the way when he retweeted the mysterious video with a smiley face.

"In 30 minutes, as a show of power, @taylorswift13 will blot out the sun," he tweeted afterwards.

All of Swift's social media accounts went dark Friday with her profile picture and other assets appearing to have been deleted. Her website taylorswift.com also featured a blank page.
