Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Fall Out Boy's upcoming seventh studio album Mania has been delayed until January.

The album, which is set to feature singles "Champion" and "Young And Menace," will now release on Jan. 19, 2018 instead of Sept. 15, vocalist-guitarist Patrick Slump announced on Twitter Thursday.

"Yeah... pretty big bummer. We had some long talks and a lot to weigh about it all and collectively thought that was best," Slump wrote about the decision to delay the album.

"The album just really isn't ready and it felt very rushed. I'm never going to put a record out I genuinely don't believe is at least as strong or valid as the one that came before it and in order to do that we need a little bit more time to properly and carefully record solid performances," he continued.

"I know we're supposed to come up with some really exciting story to spin in pull-quotes about how the studio exploded and I ran in to save Pete's bass or something. Or like aliens stole the master tapes. That would be fun for sure but the truth is, we just want the record to be better than we can make it in the next couple weeks and it will require a little more time," Slump wrote before confirming that the band's upcoming fall tour will continue on.

Fall Out Boy's Mania tour is set to begin Oct. 20 in Cleveland and will continue throughout North America until mid-November. The band will also be traveling to Australia and New Zealand for performances with Slump hinting on Twitter that shows across Europe and the U.K. may also take place.
