Katy Perry to host the 2017 Video Music Awards show

July 27 (UPI) -- Pop singer and incoming American Idol judge Katy Perry will host next month's 2017 MTV Video Music Awards show.

The ceremony is set to air live from the The Forum in Inglewood, Calif. on Aug. 27 at 8 p.m.

Rapper Kendrick Lamar goes into the competition with a leading eight nominations. Other artists up for multiple awards include Perry, The Weeknd, Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande and Lorde.
