July 21 (UPI) -- Louis Tomlinson returned this week with his debut solo single.

The 25-year-old British singer shared a single and a music video Friday for "Back to You" featuring Bebe Rexha and Digital Farm Animals, his first solo endeavor since his group, One Direction, started their hiatus.

"So here it is, the new video in my home town of Doncaster," he tweeted of the video. "Hope you all like the video. I'm really proud of it."

"Back to You" is expected to appear on Tomlinson's forthcoming debut solo album. Variety reported last week that the singer signed a solo deal with Epic Records, a label owned by Sony Music.

"We are beyond delighted to have Louis Tomlinson as an artist," Epic Records president Sylvia Rhone said in a statement.

"[His new music] is the perfect bridge from his past to his future, and we are just as excited as the fans to experience his journey and growth," she added.

Tomlinson last performed with One Direction members Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Harry Styles in December 2015. He confessed in a new interview with the Guardian that he sometimes felt "forgettable" next to his bandmates, who are also pursuing solo careers.

"Like Niall, for example. He's the most lovely guy in the world," the star lauded. "Liam always had a good stage presence, same as Harry, they've both got that ownership."

"In the last year of One Direction I was probably the most confident I ever was. And then it was: 'OK, hiatus!'" he said. "If you'd asked me a year or 18 months ago: 'Are you going to do anything as solo artist?' I'd have said absolutely not."
