"About to take on a life long dream & head to Broadway. Excited to join @KinkyBootsBway this summer as Charlie Price. See you all in NY!" he wrote on his band's account.

Urie will play Charlie at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in New York from May 26 through Aug. 6, according to The Hollywood Reporter. J. Harrison Ghee will co-star as Lola, with Taylor Louderman as Lauren.

"I'm thrilled to be making my Broadway debut with this fantastic company," Urie said in a statement. "I'm a huge fan of Kinky Boots and musical theatre, and am honored to be joining the cast."

Kinky Boots is based on the 2005 movie of the same name, which follows Charlie, a young man who forms an unlikely partnership with drag queen Lola to save his father's shoe factory. Cyndi Lauper wrote the music and lyrics, with the book by Harvey Fierstein.

Urie is the sole remaining original member of Panic! at the Disco, which he helped form in 2004. The band last released the album Death of a Bachelor in January 2016, which includes the singles "Hallelujah" and "Victorious."
