March 29 (UPI) -- Nicki Minaj landed her first major modeling contract this week. The 34-year-old rapper said Tuesday that she was "honored" to sign with the celebrity division of Wilhelmina Models.
"Honored to be @wilhelminamodels," she told her 77.2 million Instagram followers.
Vogue had broken the news about Minaj earlier in the day. The fashion-loving star told the magazine she draws style inspiration from her music.
"I love the synergy between my music and how it inspires my fashion. My message is always celebrating your own style," she said.
"I'm thrilled and honored to have signed with Wilhelmina -- they get me," the rapper added.
Wilhelmina Models also represents such celebrities as Demi Lovato, Nick Jonas and Shawn Mendes. Minaj has served as the face of Roberto Cavalli, and appeared on the cover of Elle, L'Uomo Vogue and Teen Vogue.
"I've constantly tried new things, even as a child, and have always been obsessed with pink," she told Teen Vogue in 2013. "Now I'm just a little more ladylike and fearless. You should never feel afraid to become a piece of art. It's exhilarating."
Minaj last released the album The Pinkprint in 2014, which includes the singles "Anaconda," "Only" and "Truffle Butter." She released three new singles, including "No Frauds," from her upcoming fourth studio album this month.
