Feb. 20 (UPI) -- Frances Bean Cobain is remembering late dad Kurt Cobain.
The 24-year-old model penned a note to the Nirvana frontman Monday on what would have been his 50th birthday.
"Today would have been your 50th birthday. You are loved and you are missed. Thank you for giving me the gift of life. Forever your daughter, Frances Bean Cobain," she wrote in an Instagram post.
Frances Bean is the daughter of Kurt Cobain and singer and actress Courtney Love, who were married from 1992 until Kurt's death in 1994. The singer died by suicide at age 27.
"I was around 15 when I realized he was inescapable," Frances Bean told Rolling Stone in 2015. "Even if I was in a car and had the radio on, there's my dad. He's larger than life and our culture is obsessed with dead musicians. We love to put them on a pedestal."
"If Kurt had been just another guy who abandoned his family in the most awful way possible... But he wasn't," she added. "He became even bigger after he died than he was when he was alive. You don't think it could have gotten any bigger. But it did."
"I am honored to have worked with such incredibly creative, inspiring people for this campaign. Thank you @themarcjacobs & David Sims," she tweeted at the time.
