DENVER, Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Demi Lovato took a break from her tour this month to appear on "Undercover Lyft."

The 24-year-old singer surprised fans by pretending to be a driver and aspiring singer named Samantha for the latest installment of the Lyft promo while in Denver, Colo.

"I actually really want to be a singer someday," she told one customer. "I have actually been traveling the country with my ex-boyfriend's brother because he sings, too, and we really want to kind of get our names out there at open mic nights, whatever we can do."

Lovato met several passengers who were fans of her music and Disney Channel's Camp Rock movies. She was playfully self-deprecating throughout the segment, poking fun at her chin and comparing herself to Selena Gomez.

"I like [Demi's song 'Confident'] but it sounds like she's screaming," the star said as Samantha. "Selena is so much more talented. She's got, like, such a better voice."

Lovato kicked off her Future Now tour with Nick Jonas on June 29 and will bring the venture to a close Sept. 17 in Inglewood, Calif. The singer was recently linked to UFC fighter Luke Rockhold following her split from Wilmer Valderrama in June.

"I feel really amazing," she told Elvis Duran and the Morning Show in July. "I feel really great and I'm growing. My life is just really, really exciting for me because I'm growing. It's new and fresh, and I feel free."
