LOS ANGELES, Aug. 8 (UPI) -- Scott Eastwood was encouraged to skip Taylor Swift's "Wildest Dreams" video.

The 30-year-old actor, who stars as Swift's love interest in the 2015 music video, revealed in an interview with People that his agents advised him not to appear in the project.

"None of my agents wanted me to do it, actually," the star admitted. "They said, 'Oh, we don't want you to do that! Why would you be Taylor Swift's boy toy?' And I said, 'Why the hell not?'"

The video, which takes place in 1950s Africa, follows the romance between two co-stars (Eastwood and Swift). Eastwood had nothing but praise for Swift when he previewed the project in August 2015.

"What an amazing time working with @taylorswift," he wrote on Instagram. "Not only is she a rockstar. But someone I am proud to call a friend."

"She is a great person and those are hard to find in your life," he added. "When you do... Hold tight. #WildestDreamsMusicVideo."

Eastwood, the son of actor and director Clint Eastwood, last starred in Suicide Squad, which opened in theaters Friday. He is slated for Fast 8 with Vin Diesel and Live by Night with Ben Affleck.
