NEW YORK, July 28 (UPI) -- Lorde gave fans a laugh by live-tweeting her awkward Uber ride this week.

The 19-year-old New Zealand singer told her 4.3 million Twitter followers she went unnoticed as her driver gushed about the celebrity passenger he had just dropped off.

"Uber driver currently busting a nut about the fact that there was a 'celebrity passenger' just before me," she wrote. "I can tell our ride, by comparison, sparkles significantly less for him."

"I can feel it from the back seat, his dazed glow. He's probably now pretending that I am not here, that they are still together, and alone," she joked.

Lorde wasn't the only celebrity to go unrecognized in an Uber that day -- friend and fellow singer Ellie Goulding told the star she also went unnoticed during her ride.

"@lorde Mine said he had someone from Ellie Gouldings band in earlier. But didn't like her music soooo," she tweeted. Lorde responded by commiserating, "I just winced."

Lorde, a two-time Grammy winner, released her debut album, Pure Heroine, in 2013. The singer assured fans she's working on her new record by revealing she was taking the Uber to the studio.
