My Chemical Romance teases possible reunion with new video

NEWARK, N.J., July 21 (UPI) -- Rock band My Chemical Romance, which disbanded in 2013, has taken to social media to tease a possible comeback.

A teaser video posted to the band's official Twitter account Wednesday, features a flag waving in the air as the group's piano intro to its 2006 hit song "Welcome to the Black Parade" off its third studio album The Black Parade plays in the background.

The uncaptioned 30-second clip then ends with a date, 9/23/16 - which could mark the return of My Chemical Romance and the release of a new album.

Notably, the date lands close to what will be the 10th anniversary of The Black Parade, which was released on Oct. 23, 2006.

Speaking on their breakup from 2013, frontman Gerard Way noted in a statement: "We were spectacular. Every show I knew this, every show I felt it with or without external confirmation. And all of the things that made us great were the very things that were going to end us."

"My Chemical Romance is done," he concluded. "But it can never die. It is alive in me, in the guys, and it is alive inside all of you."

Following the split, Way has stayed busy diving into the world of comic books. Recently, he wrote a new mature-reader comic for DC Comics entitled Young Animal. In September, he'll launch a new take on vintage series Doom Patrol.
