LOS ANGELES, July 21 (UPI) -- Louis Tomlinson can't help but gush about his son, Freddie Reign.
The 24-year-old British singer discussed fatherhood while filming Wednesday's episode of America's Got Talent. Tomlinson served as a guest judge for Round 4 of the Judge Cuts episodes.
"I mean, I didn't think I'd be having a kid at this age, but it is incredible," the star told judge and Spice Girls singer Mel B during a break in filming.
Tomlinson later hit the golden buzzer for 14-year-old Jayna Brown, sending her immediately to the next round. The aspiring singer impressed the judges with her rendition of Andra Day's "Rise Up."
"It's not just one thing with you. It's not just the voice. It's not just the performance," Tomlinson told the contestant. "You have everything, and it's so infectious to watch you perform."
Tomlinson shares his son with ex-girlfriend Brianna Jungwirth, from whom he split prior to Freddie's birth. The singer called for privacy this month after news broke he is seeking joint custody of the 6-month-old infant.
"[Freddie should] have a normal, private and protected childhood," the star's rep said in a statement, explaining "the levels of paparazzi attention" pose security issues and are "intolerable and completely unjustifiable."
"Louis appreciates, respects and values his relationship with the media and we hope he and his son are afforded the same respect on this matter," the spokesperson added.
Tomlinson is best known as a member of the boy band One Direction, which is presently on hiatus.
