BOGOTA, July 5 (UPI) -- The first ever Lollapalooza Colombia music festival has been cancelled after organizers were unable to replace a departing headlining act.

"After its lead artist canceled just hours before the festival was slated to announce the lineup, and faced with difficulties in finding the right replacement, the organizers of the festival have been forced to cancel the inaugural Lollapalooza Colombia," reads a statement on the event's official website, which was orginally posted in Spanish.

"Organizers of Lollapalooza Colombia want to express their deep thanks to all fans who supported the fest from day one, as well as sponsors and supporters," it continued.

The headlining act who dropped out was not specified. But Colombian source RCN Radio, says it was Rihanna, and that she pulled out over Zika virus fears. The New York Daily News reports, however, that Rihanna was merely invited to Lollapalooza Colombia, and could not make the dates.

Rihanna has yet to comment on the speculation.

The event was set to take place from Sept. 17-18 in Bogota's Simon BolĂvar Park with performances from Disclosure, Lana Del Rey and Wiz Khalifa.
