WASHINGTON, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- Elton John says he and Lady Gaga are working on new music together resembling that of the songstress's earlier work.

Speaking with Beats 1 host Zane Lowe Tuesday, John revealed he planned on writing with Gaga the following day.

"I've heard two songs, which are killer," he said, according to NME. "They're just great songs. It's like back to the early stuff of hers, like 'You and I' and the Bruce Springsteen one, as I always call it, 'Bad Romance.'"

Following her most recent solo album Artpop and collaborative project with Tony Bennett, Cheek to Cheek, the next musical project from Gaga is rumored to feature work from producers RedOne and Mark Ronson.

Previously, Gaga and John have only worked together on film and television projects, including songs for the animated movie Gnomeo & Juliet.

Earlier this month, the Golden Globe-winning American Horror Story actress said in an interview for V Magazine she had been writing "a lot for the past year."

"I'm using my listening from acting in my music more, which is crucial because it's music. Who knew I could listen even more? It's amazing to even talk about," she added.
