Adele's 'Hello' music video dethrones Taylor Swift's 'Bad Blood'

LONDON, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- The music video for Adele's new single "Hello" has overtaken Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood" as the most-viewed video in 24 hours.

The ballad, which marks Adele's return to music after a three year hiatus, obtained a dominating 27.7 million views in its first day as compared to "Bad Blood," which peaked at a then record-setting 20.1 million views in its first 24 hours of release.

Swift had previously earned the distinction after beating out Nicki Minaj's "Anaconda," which garnered 19.6 million views in a single day. "Anaconda" narrowly beat out Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball," which earned 19.3 million views during its debut.

The British singer originally teased the new song during a short advertisement that aired alongside the X Factor in the U.K.. "Hello" will appear on Adele's upcoming album 25 which drops on Nov. 20.

On Monday, NBC announced that Adele would be performing on Saturday Night Live on Nov. 21.
