LOS ANGELES, Aug. 12 (UPI) -- Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp and Joe Perry have announced they plan to perform as the Hollywood Vampires for two shows Sept. 16-17 at The Roxy in Los Angeles.

Joining the Hollywood Vampires live on these dates will be Matt Sorum on drums, Duff McKagan on bass, Tommy Henriksen on guitar and Bruce Witkin on piano and guitar.

The band is also scheduled to perform Sept. 24 at Brazil's Rock in Rio music festival.

Formed in 1972, the original Hollywood Vampires was a group of famous musicians who partied together.

"To join the club, one simply had to out-drink all of the members," Cooper, a founding member of the Vampires, said in a statement.

"I would walk in on a typical night," Cooper recalled, "and John Lennon, Harry Nilsson, Keith Moon -- who would usually be in a costume like a maid or a chauffeur -- Bernie Taupin, Jim Morrison and Mickey Dolenz would be there. The next week might be Bernie Taupin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison and Mickey Dolenz."

Cooper, Depp and Perry have recorded an album tribute to the Hollywood Vampires' legacy, which is set for release on Sept. 11. All artist proceeds will be donated to MusiCares.
