Janet Jackson to kick off 'Unbreakable' world tour in Aug.

The singer will release her 11th studio album in the fall.

LOS ANGELES, June 15 (UPI) -- Janet Jackson will embark on her Unbreakable world tour in August.

The 49-year-old singer announced the tour dates and locations on her website Monday. Jackson will kick off Aug. 31 in Vancouver, B.C., and bring the tour to a close Nov. 12 in Honolulu, Hawaii.

The Unbreakable tour is in support of her upcoming 11th studio album, which will debut in the fall. American Express card members can buy advance tickets June 15 to June 19, with general tickets to go on sale June 22.

"Janet Jackson is one of the most influential entertainers of the modern era," the announcement reads. "With sales of over 160 million records worldwide, [she] stands as one of the best-selling artists of all time with a string of hits that have left an indelible impression on pop culture."

Jackson last released Discipline in Feb. 2008, and promoted the record on her Rock Witchu tour. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, but the singer subsequently parted with Island Records due to poor sales.
