Taylor Swift, Sam Smith, One Direction win big at Billboard Music Awards

LAS VEGAS, May 18 (UPI) -- Taylor Swift was the big winner at the Billboard Music Awards ceremony in Las Vegas on Sunday night.

The 25-year-old pop star took home the highest honor of Top Artist, as well as the prizes for Top Female Artist, Hot 100 Artist, Billboard 200 Artist, Digital Songs Artist and the fan-voted Billboard Chart Achievement Award. Her anthem "Shake It Off" was named Top Streaming Song and her album 1989 the Top Billboard 200 Album.

Swift's rumored beau Calvin Harris won the award for Top Dance/Electronic Artist.

One Direction scored the trophies for Top Duo/Group and Top Touring Artist, while Sam Smith earned the accolades for Top Male Artist, Top New Artist and Top Radio Songs Artist.

Pharrell Williams picked up the awards for Top R&B Artist, Top R&B Album for GIRL and Top R&B Song for "Happy."

Iggy Azalea won the prizes for Top Rap Artist, Top Streaming Artist and Top Rap Song for "Fancy," featuring Charli XCX, while John Legend garnered the honors for Top Radio Song and Top Streaming Song for "All of Me." Florida Georgia Line was deemed Top Country Artist, Justin Bieber Top Social Artist and Romeo Santos Top Latin Artist.

Hozier was declared Top Rock Artist and his song "Take Me to Church" Top Rock Song.

The Billboard Music Awards show was hosted by Ludacris and Legend's wife, Chrissy Teigen.
