Global All Star Concert to stream live from Paris for Jazz Day

PARIS, April 30 (UPI) -- This year's live Jazz Day celebrations will officially take place in Paris, France, Thursday in honor of the city's iconic music scene.

For the entire day, performances and education programs ranging from workshops and discussions to master classes and jam sessions will take place over all 20 of the city's districts. Many are expected to be streamed online, according to the holiday's website.

All 196 United Nations and UNESCO member states are expected to observe the celebration.

The All-Star Global Concert will take place at UNESCO headquarters on the Place de Fontenoy and will feature 20 international jazz artists including Americans Wayne Shorter, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Dianne Reeves, Al Jarreau and Marcus Miller.

In 2011, UNESCO designated April 30 International Jazz Day in honor of the genre's unique diplomatic ability. It has since been a culmination of Jazz Appreciation Month, which raises awareness of jazz heritage every April.
