LOS ANGELES, March 2 (UPI) -- American rock band Faith No More released their new single "Superhero" over the weekend.

"Surprise!" they wrote in the caption.

The link takes users to Marvel.com, where they premiered the track because of its fitting title and because "bassist Bill Gould grew up reading Marvel comics."

"'Superhero' actually just started from the sound of the song, where it has these pounding drums and it has like this throbbing kind of pulse, and we just called it the "Superhero" song," Gould told Marvel. "Because, a lot of the ways we write we visualize things."

"Superhero" is the first single of Faith No More's seventh studio album, and first in 18 years, Sol Invictus which will be released May 19.
