Meghan Trainor's album soars to No. 1 on Billboard 200 Chart

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 22 (UPI) -- Meghan Trainor's Title album has reached the top of the Billboard 200 chart.

The music chart service announced Trainor's album replaced Taylor Swift's record-braking 1989 on Tuesday after Nielsen Music noted the record earned 238,000 equivalent units on the week ending on Jan. 18. Title was released on Jan. 9.

The singer first released Title as an EP in September of 2014. The lead single from the record, "All About That Bass" sat atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart for eight consecutive weeks.

According to Billboard, Trainor's new album has logged "the biggest debut for a female pop artist's first full-length album in over five years" and is one the first albums to open up with such big number in the month of January. The last one to do so, was Justin Bieber's Believe: Acoustic, which was released on on Jan. 29, 2013, and opened with 211,000.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular album each week by tracking traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).
