NEW YORK, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Maddie Ziegler says dancing with Shia LaBeouf for Sia's "Elastic Heart" music video was intense.

The 12-year-old discussed the experience with Entertainment Tonight ahead of her performance on Saturday Night Live. The video caused controversy due to the pair's age difference, but Ziegler said the choreography was more of a battle than a dance.

"I've never danced with a much older guy like that before, and it wasn't like we were actually dancing together because we were fighting each other," she related. "I'm supposed to be portraying a werewolf ... and I'm the strong one and I'm trying to pretty much kill him."

"I really did bite Shia, and it was gross because we were dirty and I had to bite his dirty hands," she revealed. "I kept wiping myself off and I kept handing the wipes to Shia and he was like, 'I don't need the wipes,' and I was like, 'Yes, you do.' I brought perfume and everything."

Sia addressed the controversy earlier this month on Twitter, and apologized to those distressed by the video. She declared her intention was "to create some emotional content, not to upset anybody," and replaced LaBeouf with a female dancer for Saturday Night Live.

"Elastic Heart" is the fourth single to debut from Sia's sixth studio album, 1000 Forms of Fear, and also appeared on The Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack. Ziegler also starred in the singer's music video for "Chandelier," and is best known for Lifetime reality series Dance Moms.
