Lorde, Sia and Lana Del Rey compete for Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song

Winners of the 72nd annual Golden Globe Awards are to be announced Jan. 11.

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 11 (UPI) -- Recording stars Lana Del Rey, John Legend, Patti Smith, Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross and Sia were nominated for Golden Globe Awards Thursday for their contributions to movie soundtracks in 2014.

Competing in the Best Original Song category are Lana Del Rey's "Big Eyes" from Big Eyes, John Legend and Common's "Glory" from Selma, Patti Smith's "Mercy Is" from Noah, Sia's "Opportunity" from Annie and Lorde's "Yellow Flicker Beat" from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1.

Up for Best Original Score is music by Alexandre Desplat for The Imitation Game, Johann Johannsson for The Theory of Everything, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for Gone Girl, and Hans Zimmer for Interstellar.
