LOS ANGELES, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- The Foo Fighters have announced the title and release date of their new album.

The record is called Sonic Highways, and is scheduled for release November 10. Sonic Highways is also the name of guitarist Dave Grohl's upcoming documentary series for HBO, which chronicles the album being made.

The number eight has been a recurring theme for the album. The record is the band's eighth studio release, consists of eight tracks and was recorded in eight different cities. The 180-gram vinyl edition features nine different covers, including one for each city the band recorded in.

"This album is instantly recognizable as a Foo Fighters record, but there's something deeper and more musical to it," Grohl said in a statement. "I think that these cities and these people influenced us to stretch out and explore new territory, without losing our 'sound.'"

"We're an American band," the musician told Rolling Stone. "We wouldn't be the band we are if it wasn't for the cities here and their music."

The Foo Fighters last released Wasting Light in 2011. Sonic Highways is available for pre-order now.
