TEL AVIV, Israel, July 13 (UPI) -- Canadian singer-songwriter Neil Young canceled his upcoming concert in Tel Aviv due to ongoing fighting between Israel and Hamas.

Over the past six days, Israel launched some 1,320 airstrikes against Gaza, resulting in the deaths of at least 168 people, including 27 children.

Hamas has likewise fired rockets at Israel.

The hostilities has caused Young to cancel his show Thursday.

"It is with great sorrow that we are forced to announce the cancellation of the concert by Neil Young and Crazy Horse this coming Thursday at Hayarkon Park," promoter Shuki Weiss announced in a press release on Sunday. "The cancellation is due to the barrage of rockets that have been fired in recent days and concern for the safety of an audience for such an event."

Those with tickets to the show would be contacted at a later date for information regarding refunds.
