Loretta Lynn to receive lifetime achievement award from Americana Music Association

NASHVILLE, July 10 (UPI) -- Loretta Lynn will be honored at the 2014 Americana Music Association awards.

The 82-year-old singer will receive a lifetime achievement award for songwriting at the ceremony. Lynn has penned countless country classics, such as "Coal Miner's Daughter," I'm a Honky Tonk Girl" and "Don't Come Home a Drinkin' (With Lovin' on Your Mind)."

Lynn has already received countless accolades, including Kennedy Center Honors in 2003, and a Grammy lifetime achievement award in 2010. She was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1988, and has sold more than 45 million records worldwide during her decades-long career. Sissy Spacek won a Best Actress Academy Award for her portrayal of Lynn in 1980 biopic Coal Miner's Daughter, which was based on the singer's autobiography of the same name.

Jackson Browne, Taj Mahal and Flaco Jimenez will also receive Americana lifetime achievement awards this year. Browne is being honored for free speech in music, Mahal for performance and Jimenez for instrumental excellence. The 2014 Americana Music Association awards take place July 17 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.
