LOS ANGELES, June 6 (UPI) -- Rihanna has taken to Twitter to respond to TLC's criticism of her CFDA gown.

The 26-year-old singer turned heads earlier this week when she wore a sheer gown made of crystals to the 2014 Council of Fashion Designers of America awards ceremony. She had only a pink stole and nude thong to protect her modesty, and TLC members Chilli and T-Boz slammed the outfit Thursday on Sunrise.

"Every time I see you, you don't have to be naked," T-Boz said on the Australian morning program. "It is what it is. I call a spade a spade, okay?"

"We sold and became the biggest girl selling group of all time, with our clothes on," she continued. "That says a lot. It's easy to sell sex. ... We can go around with boobie cakes out all day long."

Rihanna responded by changing her cover photo on Twitter to a topless picture of Chilli and T-Boz. The women cover their nipples with their hands in the image, while late TLC member Lisa Lopez appears clothed. The singer also tweeted a picture of herself with her tongue out, and included the caption: "When there's no changing the fact that I'm me, and they're well...they're them."
