LOS ANGELES, April 28 (UPI) -- Tank will no longer perform at the Los Angeles Clippers game Tuesday.

The 38-year-old R&B singer was scheduled to open the game with the national anthem, but announced Monday that he has chosen not to sing. His refusal is in protest of team owner Donald Sterling, who is accused of making racist comments in a conversation with mistress V. Stiviano.

"As an African American man, I must take a stand on a matter that is so deeply personal to me," Tank tells TMZ. "In light of the recent disturbing and offensive allegations, in good conscience, I cannot move forward with my scheduled appearance at Tuesday's Los Angeles Clippers game."

The musician says he won't associate with someone who makes minorities unwelcome, and refuses to collaborate with the NBA until the organization finishes its investigation of Sterling.
