GREENVILLE, Ky., Feb. 2 (UPI) -- Country group The Band Perry plans to pay for burial expenses for a Kentucky woman and her eight children who were killed in a house fire, a family friend said.

La Rae Watson, 35, and her eight children ranging in age from 4 to 15 died Thursday in a fast-spreading house fire in Greenville, Ky.

The father, Chad J. Watson, and an 11-year-old girl survived the fire and were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

The Band Perry -- comprised of siblings Kimberly, Neil and Reid -- said they would pay for funeral expenses and hotel expenses for family members staying near the hospital where the two survivors were being treated, CNN reported.

"I don't know why The Band Perry reached out to the family other than they are just very gracious," said family friend Pam Burden. "The family doesn't have any personal connection to the band before now."

Kentucky State Police said the fire was likely caused by an electric baseboard heater in a bedroom.
