Gordy named a subsidiary of Motown Records after his sister, Anna Records, under which Gaye recorded much of his early work.

She was responsible for co-writing a number of songs with Gaye, including "Baby I'm For Real" and "The Bells," the Times said.

Gordy called his sister "the glamor girl of the family."

"She backed me up on everything I tried to do and gave me the confidence to be what I wanted to be," he said Friday.
