BATTLE CREEK, Mich., Jan. 23 (UPI) -- Mary J. Blige's estranged father was stabbed in the neck during a domestic dispute with his former girlfriend in Michigan, the Battle Creek Enquirer reported.
Thomas Blige remains hospitalized in critical condition and his ex-partner, who was not identified to the media, was arrested on a charge of assault with intent to murder, the newspaper said.
The 50-year-old woman allegedly attacked Blige, 63, when he caught her deflating his car tires in his apartment building parking lot. She is due to be arraigned Friday in Calhoun County District Court, the report said.
The woman is on probation after pleading no-contest to aggravated domestic violence after she hit Blige in the head with a glass candlestick last fall.
Mary J. Blige is a Grammy Award-winning R&B singer/songwriter who has sold more than 50 million albums since her debut in 1992.
