NEW YORK, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- U.S. singer and actress Lea Michele is to release her debut solo album, "Louder," March 4, Columbia Records announced Tuesday.

Michele has been featured on numerous soundtrack albums from her popular musical dramedy series, "Glee."

"'Louder' really encompasses my experiences over this past year and my journey as an artist up to this point," Michele said in a statement. "There's a lot of emotion but it's also very encouraging and hopeful -- it's about pushing forward and living your life in a way that's louder, stronger and bolder. I'm so excited to share this new side of me with my fans."

Available for pre-order now, the album was recorded during the past year as Michele was mourning the loss of her real-life boyfriend and "Glee" co-star Cory Monteith, who died of a heroin overdose in July.
