Macklemore & Ryan Lewis up for a leading six American Music Awards

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- The rap duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis led the field with six nods when nominations for the 2013 American Music Awards were announced Thursday.

Taylor Swift and Justin Timberlake followed close behind with five nominations each, while Florida Georgia Line, Rihanna and Robin Thicke earned four nominations apiece and Bruno Mars and Imagine Dragons were each nominated for three awards.

The acts up for the top prize of 2013 Artist of the Year include Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Bruno Mars, Rihanna, Taylor Swift and Justin Timberlake.

Miley Cyrus and Imagine Dragons are confirmed to perform at the AMAs show at the Nokia Theatre Nov. 24. The program will air on ABC.

Additional acts and presenters are to be announced in the coming weeks, producers said Thursday.
