LONDON, Aug. 12 (UPI) -- British soul singer Adele is in talks to make her film acting debut in an upcoming espionage thriller starring Samuel L. Jackson and Colin Firth, The Sun said.

Based on a graphic novel by "Kick-Ass" creator Mark Millar, "The Secret Service" is to be helmed later this year by "X-Men: First Class" and "Layer Cake" director Matthew Vaughn, Entertainmentwise.com reported.

"Adele is exactly what Matthew is looking for," a source told The Sun on Sunday, in response to rumors claiming the recording artist is up for the villain role in the film. "He wants the highest-profile names in various fields to boost the film's cause and turn it into a mega-money franchise."

Adele, 25, had a cameo on TV's "Ugly Betty" in 2009. She won an Oscar this year for her song, "Skyfall," the theme for the latest James Bond adventure.
