Chris Brown pleads not guilty to hit-and-run

LOS ANGELES, July 23 (UPI) -- Recording artist Chris Brown pleaded not guilty in a Los Angeles court Tuesday to a hit-and-run charge stemming from to a minor car accident, records show.

Although related charges of driving without a valid license and proof of insurance were dismissed, the May hit-and-run citation led to Brown's probation being revoked.

Brown was on probation for assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009.

TMZ said Brown has until Aug. 6 to go to a police station and get booked for the hit-and-run since he wasn't arrested at the time of the alleged incident.

His next court date in the hit-and-run case is Aug. 15, the celebrity news website said, adding Brown also is scheduled to appear in court for a separate probation violation hearing next month.
