INVERNESS, Scotland, July 2 (UPI) -- Susan Boyle, the Scottish singer who became an international sensation on "Britain's Got Talent," kicks off her first live tour Tuesday.

Boyle opens in Inverness, The Scotsman reported. Her seven-night tour includes concerts in Aberdeen, Dundee, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

A spokeswoman said a few tickets are still available in Glasgow and Edinburgh, but everything else is sold out.

When Boyle, now 52, first appeared on "Britain's Got Talent" in 2009 the judges were prepared to treat her as comic relief -- a dumpy middle-aged woman in a dowdy dress. But the beauty of her voice surprised them and won over the audience.

Boyle has released several albums but has made few live appearances. When she announced her Scottish tour, she said she was thinking of doing an international one next year.
