MADRID, May 30 (UPI) -- New Jersey rockers Bon Jovi say they are voluntarily performing a sold-out concert in Madrid next month for free.

TheLocal.es said tickets for the event went for between $23-$50, but the band isn't taking a cut of the sales.

"When we were planning our tour to promote our new album, we did a study and saw that, given the economic crisis, Spain wasn't even on the map," lead singer Jon Bon Jovi told the Spanish national daily El Mundo.

"But we didn't want to forget all about our fans in a country which I love, and which has treated me so well for 30 years."
