Country singer David Allan Coe hospitalized after car crash

OCALA, Fla., March 20 (UPI) -- David Allan Coe was hospitalized in Florida for injuries he sustained in an Ocala traffic crash, the country singer's road manager said.

Coe, 73, ran a red light in his sport utility vehicle was hit by a tractor-trailer in an intersection early Tuesday morning, police told the Ocala [Fla.] Star-Banner.

The musician has been cited for running a red light.

Bruce Smith, Coe's longtime road manager, told the Star-Banner the recording artist is "doing OK" and his wife is by his side at Ocala Regional Medical Center.

The nature of his injuries was not reported.

Coe's scheduled concerts in St. Louis and Louisville have been canceled due to the collision.

Coe is known for his songs "The Ride," "You Never Even Called Me by My Name" and "Would You Lay with Me."
