LONDON, Feb. 27 (UPI) -- British music icon David Bowie has featured Oscar-winning actress Tilda Swinton in the video for his new song, "The Stars [Are Out Tonight.]"

"This story at once captures a 21st century moment in its convergence of age, gender and the normal/celebrity divide," a statement on Bowie's website said about the clip.

Swinton plays the wife of Bowie's character in the rock star's latest music video, which was directed by Floria Sigismondi and premiered online this week. This marks the first music video Swinton has appeared in since Orbital's "The Box," which was nominated for Best Video at the 1997 Brit Awards, the BBC said.

Swinton's film credits include "Moonrise Kingdom," "We Need to Talk About Kevin," "Michael Clayton" and "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe."

"The Stars [Are Out Tonight] is the second single from "The Next Day," Bowie's first album of new material in 10 years.
