Danner finds 'Nice Work' on Broadway

NEW YORK, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Actress Blythe Danner is joining the cast of the Broadway musical comedy "Nice Work if You Can Get It," producers announced Thursday.

Danner's 12-week stint in the show is to begin Dec. 18 and will run through March 10.

She will assume the role of Millicent Winter, the mother of Matthew Broderick's character, Jimmy Winter. The role is currently played by Estelle Parsons, who will give her final performance Dec. 16.

Featuring music and lyrics by George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin and a book by Joe DiPietro, the new show stars Matthew Broderick and Kelli O'Hara.

Danner, the mother of Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow, has appeared in the films "Brighton Beach Memoirs," "Alice," "The Prince of Tides," "Sylvia," "The Lucky One" and the "Meet the Parents" franchise. Her Broadway credits include "Betrayal," "The Philadelphia Story," "Blithe Spirit," "A Streetcar Named Desire," "The Deep Blue Sea" and "Follies."
